Full Tilt software upgrade released

fulltilt Full Tilt software upgrade releasedA couple of months ago we saw Full Tilt launch their newly designed website. Well now, they’ve upgraded their software too and released it to all their players.

The original FT software had been around for a fair while, so you could say it was due an upgrade. However, it was also one of the most complete and reliable poker clients available, so there’s a lot of responsibility lying on the shoulders of this new piece of software.

Time will tell how succesful it proves to be, but early signs are positive with a much cleaner interface and a number of new features designed to allow you to find the information you need much more quickly.

The main new features of the Full Tilt upgrade are as follows:

New Lobby Views

Players can now view the lobby in a completely new way due to three different views which display varying amounts of information. The idea is that you’re able to find a suitable game much more quickly.

Advanced Filters

Another new feature designed to help you find your game more quickly is the “Advaned Filters” which now appears in the lobby. This tool allows you to select the criteria of the ring game/tournament that you’re looking for (such as Poker style, Game Speed and Buy in size) at which point Full Tilt will list all games that match your requirements.

For regular players, you can save the selections you’ve made as a “Favourite” so that you can access your search more quickly in the future.

Lobby Widgets

Players can now customise their lobby by using a variety of widgets which appear on the right hand side of the screen when the lobby is in Standard View.

These widgets provide a whole host of information relating to your account, the tournaments you’re interested and the number of FT Points you’ve earned, to name but a few. If you’re a member of the FTP Academy, then you’ll also recieve details of your current Academy status.

Tournament deals

Perhaps the most exciting improvement to the new software is that you can now attempt to make a deal with your opponents for all or part of the remaining prize pool once you reach the final table of a tournament.

There are three types of deal that can be used to calculate final payouts:

  • Independent Chip Modelling (ICM) – The ICM calculates the odds of you finishing in a paid position in order to determine the true equity for each player. Fair payouts are then offered to all players at the table
  • Chip Ratio – Cash is paid out in direct proportion to a player’s stack size. No payout can exceed the minimum or maximum prize in the tournament though, so a huge pile of chips doesn’t mean that you’ll earn more than the first place prize.
  • Custom Deal – The player in control of the deal (the chip leader by default) enters a payout amount into a custom form and these amounts are then adjusted until all players agree.

You should bare in mind that all players at the table need to have selected the “Make A Deal” box before the Deal Negotiotiaion screen pops up. It’s a really nice feature though and is a great addition to the software.

Hand Replayer

Full Tilt have released a new Hand Replayer which will allow you to go back over all of the hands that you’ve played in your current session. It’s a great way to find holes in your game and improve your all round strategy.

The Hand Replayer can be accessed via the “Last Hand” menu option in the top left hand corner of the screen at which point the last hand you played will appear with standard video controls appearing in the bottom right hand corner of the screen to help you navigate through your various hands.

As I mentioned above, only time will tell whether the software upgrade turns out to be a hit. It certainly looks as though it could be though. Full Tilt have been careful not to meddle with the core mechanics of what was already a very solid system.

Instead, the changes aim to make the whole system a lot more user friendly and the ability to offer your opponents a deal at the final table is a huge step forward.
